The
foundation stone for the Bharati Seva Sadan, Sringeri was laid
on 20th. March ‘2000 by His Holiness Bharathi Thirtha Swamiji,
the Shankaracharya of Sringeri and the home was inaugurated after 15
months, on 20th May ‘2001.
The
Sringeri Home has 14 single rooms and 18 double rooms, with an
accommodation strength of 50 persons.
The Single rooms
are 11'X13' with attached bathroom and an European WC. Each room
is provided with a table and a chair with either a Godrej almirah or a
built in cupboard.
The Double rooms
are15'X12' with a verandah of 4'X12' with attached bathroom and an
European WC. Each room is provided with a table and a chair
with either a Godrej almirah or a built in cupboard.
Guest House
We
have a guest house with three independent rooms with attached bath
with
a common hall which can accommodate the friends and relatives of
residents and the patrons and donors for a short stay. They can enjoy
the serenity and calm peaceful environment in the background of
surrounding hills enjoying the hot and wholesome food served by the
home.
Library
We have a large hall of 2500 sq.ft.
with a library of books on religious & spiritual values. The place is
also used for Yoga practice and occasionally acts as a hall for
conferences and events.
Water Supply - 24X7
We have a water spring on the top of the
hilly part of the campus. The water is available throughout the year
and is copiously used for washing and other utilities along with the
water pumped up through the pipes from the Tunga river, flowing
perennially about 200 feet down below the campus. There is a fresh
water well dug specifically for drinking water tested for its purity
and pumped directly through pipes to the kitchen. The Home keeps
sufficient quantity of water boiled and cooled for distribution to
residents. Hot water throughout the year for bathing from the solar
heaters and when needed from large boilers.
Personal Touch
The doctors visit the Home once a week
and examine every resident. The residents are provided free transport to the
temple twice a week. For entertainment cable T.V. facility
are in each room. Inverter
facility are in place in case of failure of electricity. The rooms are
furnished cot and a kurlon bed with bed sheets and blankets etc., with storage facilities.
The
kitchen provides tea / coffee early morning, breakfast at 8.00 Am,
with coffee or tea, wholesome
lunch in the noon and tea/coffee with biscuits in the evening and dinner
at 8.00 Pm. A cup of milk and
plantain fruit at the time of retiring to bed are also provided.
