Sringeri is a calm and peaceful place, 2500 feet above sea level on the
lap of the Sahyadri Mountains with hills around on the banks of the
river TUNGA – a peaceful place with serenity exuding an inspirational
charm. Out of the five acres campus, about half the area in the upper
portion is devoted to afforestation, with useful trees and the other
area is interspersed with cocoanut trees, plantain trees offering sweet
plantains throughout the year and jackfruit trees with large scope for
growing vegetables.
The
temperature at Sringeri during summer does not go beyond 27 degrees
centigrade and during winter below 13 degrees centigrade. Rainy season
starting from 1st June is really pouring but the land being
hilly, never gets flooded.
The place
affords a resting place for visits to famous places of worship like Dharmastala,
Mookambika, Katil Subramania, Udipi Rajeshwari(Annapoorni)
temple at Horanadu and many others to name only a few.
